Guild Member Exhibit
“Weaving Together Many Thousands of Threads”
January 12 – April 19, 2023
Encinitas Community Center
1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas, CA (760) 943-2260

The Misti Washington Gourd and Basket Guild presents an art show in the lighted case in the Encinitas Community Center.

“Weaving Together Many Thousands of Threads” describes the process of many of the projects produced by the members of the Misti Washington Gourd and Basket Guild. Most of the baskets and other artworks created by the members take untold hours to produce. They are certainly a labor of love and always one of a kind.

Nine members of the Misti Washington Gourd and Basket Guild — Debra Zimmerman, Grace Swanson, Carol Lang, Peggy Blessing, Sue Kamin, Camilla Filancia, Judy Robelotto, Patti Chamberlin, and Natalie Kuhlman have their artwork in the Community Center exhibit. Most of the 28 artworks displayed are offered for sale. Contact the artist directly if you wish to purchase one of the pieces.

The Community Center is located at 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive, Encinitas (760) 943-2260. The Community Center is open Monday - Saturday, 8 am – 9 pm, Sunday, 12 pm - 5 pm. Senior Center is open Monday - Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. This exhibit is free and open to the public and made possible by the City of Encinitas Civic Art Program, encinitasca.gov/VisualArt.

A reception, “Art Night”, will be held at the Community Center on Saturday, March 4 from 5:30-8:30 pm. Refreshments will be served (subject to directives from the State of California) and there will be demos by members of MWBGB.

The goal of the Misti Washington Gourd and Basket Guild is to preserve, promote and perpetuate the appreciation of gourd and basket art by providing a supportive, sharing and educational environment.
